Meays :
This letter is a follow-up to our intent to change the BACT at
the above mentioned site . At this time WEGE is also requesting
the approval to insert Regenesis ORC oxygen release compound in
MW12 for enhanced bioremediation.
r
WEGE has scheduled the removal of the Thermal Oxidation system
and the start-up of the Carbon Adsorbtion System for March • 1,
1996 . At this time WEGE is intending to perform the quarterly
ground water sampling of the site and insert the Regenesis Oxygen
Release Compound, ORC into MW12 to enhance bioremediation..
As you are aware we are presently performing a once a week two
hour bio-venting of MWS , which is east of Pacific Avenue across
the street from the site and our vapor extraction system. The
venting of-i MW8 does seem to be stabalizing the ground water
plume, as evidenced by the reduction in benzene concentrations at
MW8 , but has had no noticeable effect on MW12 , see Figure 5 .
l'ur
MW12 is downgradient and southeast of MW8 and shows no effects of
the bio-venting, see Table 1 - Chemical Results . WEGE is
proposing to perform a six month comparison of the MW8 weekly
bio-venting' by LTT and the Regenesis ORC socks inserted into
MW12 .
PROCEDURES
MW8
Presently !Lawerence Tank Testing (LTT) is bio-venting MW8 on a
weekly basis as outlined in the following:
i
1 . The vacuum influence measurement is accomplished by/
removing the locking cap from the casing and installing
a 4 inch PVC cap with a sample port onto the casing'
s
PAGE1 R60?-ORC MW12 2-8196
i
