01 GROUND WATER SAMPLING
Laboratory results have been received for selected ground water
samples that were collected on April 19, 1995 The upgradient
wells of this site (MW1, MW6 and MW9) which are situated between
the Lincoln Village solvent plume and former Regal 603 gasoline
hydrocarbon plume were sampled for solvents At this time vapor
samples were also obtained when a limited vapor recovery (1 hour
per well) was also performed on these wells, using LTT vacuum
truck and the portable vacuum/orifice manifold supplied by WEGE
This limited vapor recovery used the same procedures as the bio-
venting of MW8 Results of the water and vapor samples were all
below laboratory detection limits for EPA method 8260 , as was
performed by Superior Precision Analytical, Inc , see Appendix A
Quarterly ground water samples were obtained on June 21 , 1995 see
Table 1 These samples were collected by a WEGE Geo-technician
and "Chain of Custody" delivered on ice to State certified
testing laboratory, AMERICAN ENVIRONMENTAL NETWORK, INC DHS
# 1172 , for chemical analyses These samples were analyzed for
TPH and BTEX concentrations using EPA Methods 8015/5030 and 602
respectively Since diesel has never shown up in the sample
results, the samples obtained on 11/27/90 and later were analyzed
using EPA methods 5030 and 602 for Total Fuel Hydrocarbons and
BTEX The next quarterly sampling will occur in September, 1995
GROUND WATER SAMPLE RESULTS
The latest sample results showed an overall decline in
contaminant levels associated with the ground water at this site,
see Table 1, Figure 5 and Appendix B
VAPOR RECOVERY OPERATIONS AND RESULTS
The original REMOX unit operated for 14452 hours out of a total
of 21048 hours (69%) As of June 7, 1995 , the new replacement
unit operated 13913 hours out of 22459 hours (62%) During the
site visit on June 7, 1995, excessive noise generating from the
blower prompted the noon shut down of the REMOX unit The unit
will remain shut down until and inspection and if necessary
repair can be performed. As of June 7 , 1995 an estimated 74612
pounds of gasoline: range hydrocarbons have been destroyed, see
Table 2 , Chart-Figure 7 and Appendix C - Air Monitoring Report
Since March 11 , 1993 the vapor recovery/destruction has been
declining when above 100 pounds per day of gasoline range
hydrocarbons where being removed to a low of 1 27 pounds per day
on June 7, 1995 Presently, the system has been shut down for
repairs A request for Modification to the system has been made
to removal the TO and replace it with activated carbon vapor
scrubs This modification has been approved, see Appendix D
•
PAGE 2 R603 UPDATE-39 7/14/95
