0 0 <br /> and ingestion is minimal due to proper personal hygiene and use of personal protective equipment <br /> (PPE).The required PPE is discussed further in section 8.0. <br /> 2.1.2 Heat Stress <br /> Heat stress is caused by a number of interacting factors, including environmental conditions, clothing, <br /> workload, etc.,as well as the physical and conditioning characteristics of the individual.All employees <br /> must be informed of the importance of adequate rest, acclimation,and proper diet in the prevention of <br /> heat stress disorders. <br /> Heat stress monitoring and work rest cycle implementation must commence when the ambient <br /> temperatures exceed 80°F.The SSHO, project manager, and/or task manager should monitor the <br /> anticipated high temperatures prior to the start of work,as well and monitor real-time temperatures <br /> during the work day using a reputable website(i.e. http://www.weather.gov/)or onsite weather station. <br /> 2.1.3 Ultraviolet(UV) Radiation(Sunlight) <br /> Moderate to high potential for overexposure to UV light exists for field personnel. To prevent erythema <br /> (sunburn),workers will be provided Sun Protection Factor(SPF)30 or greater sunscreen to apply to <br /> areas not covered with clothing or PPE. Workers will be encouraged to seek shade whenever possible. <br /> 2.2 Physical Hazards <br /> Physical hazards discussed underthis section include underground and overhead utilities,drill rigs, <br /> machinery and moving parts,electrical hazards, noise,slips,trips,and falls, motor vehicle and heavy <br /> equipment operation,and ergonomic hazards. <br /> 2.2.1 Underground and Overhead Utilities <br /> USA has been notified and a private utilities locator has been scheduled to look at the site no later than <br /> 7 a.m. on 10/19/2017 <br /> 2.2.2 Drill Rigs <br /> The operator of the Drill Rig will comply with the precautions specified in the above section. In addition, <br /> the following precautions should be observed whenever a drill rig is in use: <br /> • Workers must not wear loose clothing, nor leave long hair, boot laces,or jacket ties <br /> uncontrolled while operating moving equipment; <br /> • Hard hats, hearing protection,safety footwear,and eye protections must be worn at all times; <br /> • Prior to the start of daily operations,the drill rig operator should inspect the drill rig carefully to <br /> be sure that it is suitable for the day's work; <br /> • The drill rig operator will ensure that there is adequate lighting on the rig to enable the job to be <br /> performed safely; <br /> • The drill rig must be equipped with an operable kill switch and personnel must be aware of <br /> restarting procedures; <br /> • All fittings,connections,and hydraulic hoses must be of a standard to operate in a safe manner; <br />
