I UP Fro
SMIMM
MR, y.
IMM
a.
i
Stewart's Beacon
d
Remedial Action Plan
Page: 4
3.3 Ground Water Pumping
3.3.I Pumping and Storage
Geol.gical Technics proposes to extract a volume of ground water for the
p°.rpose of mitigating the levels of ground water contamination that exist
"rOhrl around the tanks. During excavation,a lot of contaminated soil will be mixed
1 with the ground water and will significantly increase ground water
VIJ contamination. Therefore,to help reduce this effect,it is proposed to pump up
to 10,000 gallons of water from the excavation before it is backfilled.
1
3.3.2 Storage,Treatment,and Disposal
r The pumped water will be temporarily stored on-site in a large tank. After the
water is pumped into the tank,it will be filtered through carbon adsorption
units to remove all petroleum hydrocarbons. After the water has been filtered,
r
it will be released into the Tracy city sewer system.: Water samples will be -5TX` c
collected before and after the carbon units and tested for TPH to evaluate theme
efficiency of the filtration system and to ensure that no petroleum hydrocarbons
are being released into the city sewer.
~ A permit for release of this water will be obtained from the city of Tracy before
the water is released to the system. A copy of the permit will be sent to the
County.
4.0 PROPOSED FUTURE ACTION
4.1 Ground Water Assessment Phase II
A work plan for the second phase of ground water assessment has already been
..e
submitted to the County and the RWQCB in Sacramento. This work plan will begin
after it has been reviewed by the two agents and after the contaminated soil has been
excavated,mitigated,and disposed of.
4.2. Ground Water RAP
y A ground wafer remedial action plan will be developed after the phase_1I-assessment_ --
-has been completed.-The County-will be kept informed on the progress of this project.
