1 ' I
20 March 1996
' AGE NC Project No 95-0139
-
ppb (xylenes) No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in monitoring wells MW-2, MW-3 or
MW-4 during the January 1996 sampling event The analytical results of the ground water samples
' are summarized in Table 2 The laboratory report (WEST Sample Log 13788) and chain-of-custody ,
form are included in Appendix B
1 43 STRATIGRAPHY
' A At lens was encountered in probing B7 at a depth of 12 5 feet Clay to silty clay was encountered
in the remaining depth of all probings at the site Boring logs are included in Appendix C
4 4 LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF GEOPROBE SAMPLES
ITP1i g was detected in soil samples from borings B5 and B6 at concentrations up to 37 mg/kg (ppm,
B5-13) TPH-d was detected m soil samples from probings B5, B6 and B7 at concentration up to 25
ppm BTE&X were detected in soil samples collected from probings B5 and B6 at concentrations
ranging from 0 005 (benzene, B5-13) to 0 16 ppm (xylenes, B6-13) No petroleum hydrocarbons
were detected in samples from probings B8 and B9 nor in the grab ground water sample collected
from probing B9 Analytical results of the soil and grab ground water samples are summarized in
Table 3 The laboratory report (MAI Laboratory I D Nos 60680 through 60687) and chain-of-
custody form are included in Appendix D
5.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
5 1 PETROLEUM HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED GROUND WATER
Concentrations of TPH-g and TPH-d in MW-1 remained similar to the sampling event in June 1995 =
However, concentrations of BTE&X decreased The non-detection of petroleum hydrocarbons in
MW-2 or MW-3 indicates that the plume remains sufficiently defined at the eastern and southern
portion ,of the site This assumption is corroborated with the non-detection of petroleum
hydrocarbons in the down gradient well MW-4 during this sampling event Ground, water flow
direction and gradient have remained consistent at the site over the past nine months Thus, the
impacted-ground water plume appears have remained stable during this quarter
4 _
5 2 PETROLEUM HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons detected in the soil samples did not indicate the presence
of a large volume of impacted soil The field data and analytical results 'of samples collected from
1 ,
