The investigation was requested by San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department(EHD) in correspondence dated October 10,2003.
The general scope of work will consist of drilling and sampling two soil borings to investigate the vertical
and lateral extent of residual soil contamination, collecting a discrete groundwater sample from each boring
to investigate the vertical and lateral extent of groundwater contamination, analyzing soil and groundwater
samples for the presence of gasoline constituents including oxygenated additives and lead scavengers, and
preparing a technical report that summarizes the methods and results of the investigation.
SCOPE OF WORK
E
Ground Zero will supervise the drilling and sampling of two soil borings at the site. The estimated boring
locations are shown on Figure 2.
One boring will be advanced to a depth of approximately 25 to 30 feet below surface grade (bsg),
terminating at or near the clay layer beneath the former Tank 4 location to delineate the vertical extent of
soil and groundwater contamination. Soil samples will be collected continuously during drilling and a grab
groundwater sample with be collected at total depth.
,3
A second boring will be advanced to a depth of up to 25 feet bsg in the traffic divider in the center of
Eleventh Street in order to collect a grab groundwater sample down gradient of the existing monitoring
F
wells.
'k
A drilling company licensed in the State of California will advance the borings using a limited access
drilling rig equipped with Geoprobe 5400 direct push apparatus. Soil samples will be collected for logging
and identification purposes continuously. Samples will be collected using a 1 1/2-inch diameter core sampler
lined with clear acetate sleeves. The portion of the sample to be analyzed will be immediately capped and
preserved in an iced cooler at a temperature of approximately 4°Centigrade. Any cuttings produced will be
G:IGROUNDZE15ouzalW orkplanslsouzawp0104.doc
w
ip
