Other sources for site specific information: Again <br /> this information s included in the above mentioned report. <br /> It should be noted that the ground water was found to be <br /> between 11 and 14 feet below the surface and the tank field <br /> excavation cleaned out to the 15 foot depth. <br /> During the initial investigation of this site, verbal <br /> communications with Mr. David Brent of RWQCB-CVR confirmed the <br /> presence of an upgradient site "Alden Park Assessment Area" , south <br /> of the Desert Facility. This site has known Crude-Bunker type oil <br /> floating on the shallow ground water, but at the time has not left <br /> the site. <br /> SITE CHARACTERISTICS <br /> Item 1 . Describe evidence of leakage present. <br /> During the excavation for tank removal, a WEGE geologist noted <br /> hydrocarbon odor in the tank backfill material and a product sheen <br /> on the ground water that was exposed in the excavation (this sheen <br /> may have been attributed to spillage during the tank and product } <br /> line removal) . The tanks were found to be in good condition with i <br /> no evidence of points of failure. No staining of the native soil <br /> exposed along the sidewalls of the excavation were noted. <br /> Laboratory analysis of the sidewalls of the excavation and samples <br /> obtained from the monitor well installation borings were below <br /> detection limits. <br /> The sample obtained from the waste oil excavation showed 32 Fpm <br /> motor oil, this area was overexcavated and then five samples taken <br /> from the sidewalls and the base of the excavation. These samples <br /> were below detection limits for petroleum hydrocarbons through the <br /> motor oil range. <br /> The water found in the tank excavation was sampled on April 19, <br /> 1988. This water was found to contain gasoline range <br /> hydrocarbons, along with the sample obtained from monitor well MW1 <br /> (north of the tank field) . The excavation was left open (during <br /> the summer months) while awaiting permission to install the nek, <br /> fiberglass double walled tanks. This proved to be beneficial in <br /> remediating the gasoline range hydrocarbon contaminated ground <br /> water by recovering and removing the hydrocarbons by evaporation. <br /> As documented in the July 2, 1990 Ground Water sampling Report on <br /> Table 2, all wells have shown below detection limits for Total <br /> Petroleum Hydrocarbons since July 5, 1988. <br /> 2.
