A 2 inch (o.d.) split spoon
soil sampler (modified California sampler) with brass sample tubes was used to
collect soil samples.
Boring Logs: Detailed logs were made of each boring. The information gathered includes,
sample depths, horizons of detectable contamination, Unified Soil Classification,
F sediment description, sediment moisture content and other geological information.
f
k Individual boring logs are given in Appendix A.
Soil Sampling: Soil samples were collected at 3 foot intervals starting at three feet, or
below the bottom of the excavation. These samples were used to characterize the
sediment types and generalize the level of contamination. Only select samples were
sent to the lab for analysis. These data are listed in Tables 1 and 2. After the
samples had been collected, the samples tubes were immediately sealed with
aluminum foil, capped, labeled and stored in an ice chest cooled with blue Ice.
"- Water-Sampling;--One-ground-water-sample-was collected from-the-first-ground-water-- -- --- - -_
encountered In each boring. To Insure that the drilling procedure di.' not.introduce
contamination Into the ground water, a well casing was installed and 5 gailons (about
12 well volumes) was removed before the sample was collected. After lhfj sample
..' was collected, the casing was removed and thoroughly steam cleaned befrre being used
in the next boring.
4
