2-25-1997 10:45AM FROM HORIZON/ELDORADO 916 939 2172 F'. 2
HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
s Specldish In Site Assessment,Remedial Testing,Design and Operation
February 6, 1997
Ms.Michelle Nokes,Vice President J'P46
Winner Ford
1650 Park Street
Alameda,California 94501 Fr
Subject: Change Order Request
Discovery Chevrolet, 1615 West 11th Street,Tracy,California
UST Reimbursement Fund Claim No.008529
Ms.Nokes:
As requested Horizon Environmental Inc. (Horizon) is forwarding this change order for the
cost of the work to be performed at the above-referenced site. This change order is
necessary as request by the San Joaquin Public Health Services (SJPHS) request for
submitting a revised Workplan and workscope. Previously budgeted work at the site
included excavating the former UST cavity and installing additional monitoring welts.
SJPHS has indicated that due to declining trends in hydrocarbons the overexcavation may
not be required and have requested a revised Workplan and workscope to completely assess
the site and evaluate natural attenuation as a remedial alternative. In our opinion this
workscope can assess the site and evaluate utilizing natural attenuation as a remedial
alternative.
This scope of work includes;
• Preparing a revised work plan with a site specific site safety plan.
• Obtaining all the necessary permits for the proposed work.
• Collecting soil samples utilizing a hand-auger in the area in and around the former
gasoline-UST area to delineate gasoline range hydrocarbons in soil in this area. We
estimate that a minimum of 4 soil borings to 10 feet will he required to access this area.
The goal is to delineate the lateral extent of hydrocarbons in this area. Samples should
be collected at 5 feet and approximately 1 foot above groundwater.
• Install two additional monitoring wells downgradient of the former UST cavity and
collect groundwater samples.
• Submit selected soil and groundwater samples to a state-certified laboratory for analyses.
Samples collected from each sampling location will be analyzed TPHg and BTI (.
Assume 8 soil samples and two groundwater samples will be analyzed-
6011
nalyzed5011 Golden Foothill Parkway,Suite 7.EI Dorado Hits,CA 95762•(9160 939-2170•FAX(916)939-2172
P.O.Box 5283 • Bakersfield.CA 93388 • (805)5B9-8389 9 FAX(815)SR9-lav,
