GeoStrategies Inc.
January 18, 1995
Ms. Michelle Nokes
Winner Ford
1650 Park Street
Alameda, California
Subject: Quarterly Status Report
Former Discovery Chevrolet, 1615 W 11th Street, Tracy, California.
Ms. Nokes:
At your request, GeoStrategies (GSI) is preparing this Quarterly Status Report (QSR) for
the above-referenced site. This QSR is in response to the letter dated January 11, 1995,
from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJPHS). This letter requested a
fourth quarter monitoring report and anaddendum to GSI's Preliminary Environmental
Investigation Report (PEIR), dated December 7, 1994.
The site is an operating car dealership with service and repair bays. Formerly the site
had two gasoline underground storage tanks (UST) in a common cavity and one waste-oil
>-- UST. The USTs were removed in April 1993. Soil samples collected from the base of
the UST excavations indicated petroleum hydrocarbons were present in the soil at the
base of each cavity. Gasoline range hydrocarbons were present at the base of the
gasoline UST cavity up to 4,400 parts per million (ppm) as total petroleum hydrocarbons
as gasoline (TPHg). The soil sample collected from the base of the waste-oil UST cavity
contained TPHg at 31 ppm and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) at 270
ppm. A soil sample collected from beneath a dispenser contained TPHg at 21 ppm. All
soil samples analyzed for metals had concentrations less than their respective Total
Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC) and less than ten times the Soluble Threshold
Limit Concentration (STLC) as noted in Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
Based on results of soil sample analyses from the UST removal, GST performed a
preliminary site assessment to further assess hydrocarbons in the soil and to evaluate if
hydrocarbons had impacted groundwater beneath the site. Results of that investigation
were reported in the PEIR and indicated gasoline range hydrocarbons had impacted
groundwater beneath and downgradient of the former gasoline USTs. No impact to the
groundwater from the waste-oil UST was indicated.
Work performed by GSI for the site during the fourth quarter of 1994 included evaluating
the data collected during the preliminary environmental investigation and preparing the
report.
6747 Sierra Court, Suite.
