r
SECOR
International Incorporated
0
August 9, 2001
Project 077.43536.101 w
Mr. Mike Infurna 3
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Street, 3`a Floor sP
Stockton, CA 95202
Re: Work Plan for Site Assessment
Chevron Station#20-1383
1960 West I Vh Street
Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Infurna:
SECOR International Incorporated(SECOR), on behalf of Chevron Products Company
(Chevron), presents this work plan for groundwater assessment at the above-referenced
Chevron site (Figure 1). This work plan is being prepared in response to a detection of
methyl tertiary-butyl-ether(MtBE)in a groundwater sample taken from a soil boring on
the proposed Safeway property north of the site as documented in GeoTrans report Pre-
Gas Station Screening Level II Environmental Assessment, dated May 31, 2001. Six
Geoprobe borings will be advanced along the northern property boundary to collect
groundwater samples as described in the following Proposed Scope of Work.
SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS
The site is an operating Chevron station located at 1960 West 11`"Street, in Tracy,
California. Current station features include three USTs in a common excavation, a
station building, six product dispensers under a common canopy, and a car wash. The
site was formerly agricultural land.
CalTrans operates a corporate yard to the west of the Chevron station and is reported to
have two 2,000 gallon and four 500 gallon underground storage tanks (USTs). To the
north of the Chevron, a Safeway with a gasoline service station is being developed.
Based on the GeoTrans investigation, groundwater is anticipated to be encountered at
approximately 9 to 11 feet below ground surface (bgs). Based on local topography,
groundwater flow is anticipated to be generally to the north/northwest in the Tracy
area. —
A summary of previous investigations is included in Attachment A.
3017 Kilgore Road, Suite 100, Rancbo Cordova, CA 95670 916.861.0400916.861.0430 Fax ww.secor.com
