Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system currently exists on the Site. The system serves the residence; it is
located to the north of the residence, according to Mr. Durst.
Proposed Septic System
According to the proposed site plan, the new winery building will utilize a new septic
system to serve a small restroom.
On-Site Septic Permit History
Live Oak reviewed the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic
permits on August 18, 2011 in an attempt to identify permits for the Site address. No
permits for septic systems were found.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from
GoogleEarthTM was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one
septic system. Using this method, we estimated that at least 11 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of vineyards and orchards with scattered rural residences.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, the septic systems in the area
appear to utilize leach lines and seepage pits. The septic permits can be found in
Appendix 4 of this report.
LOGE 1122 Page 2
