t
Impact PS-1: Increased Demand for Law Enforcement and
Airline Security
As the airport expands and the airport property is developed, demand for law enforcement
and airline security would increase. The Sheriff's Department has indicated that as the airport
expands, the Sheriff's Department would be able to provide law enforcement services to the airport
at whatever level is deemed appropriate (Reinard W. Brandley, Consulting Airport Engineer 1997).
Law enforcement needs would be slightly greater under 2015 proposed project conditions with Phase
2 Arch-Airport/SR 99 interchange improvements than under Phase 1 interchange conditions because,
under Phase 2, additional land would be developed in urbanized uses.
The expansion of the airport would also require that additional police officers be retained to
provide airline security. Because the airline Airport Police security station and personnel would be
Ft funded by increased airline passenger revenues, increased airline security needs could be met.
Because additional law enforcement and airline security would be provided to the project
" site as needed, this impact is considered less than significant under both Phases 1 and 2 interchange
conditions.
Mitigation Measure
None required.
' k
Impact PS-2: Increased Demand for Fire Protection
As the airport expands and development occurs at the project site, an increased demand for
fire protection would occur. Onsite emergency service and equipment are available to handle fire,
crash, and fuel oil spills. Emergencies at the airport would be adequately handled by the Sheriff's
Department and other outside agencies with which the Sheriff's department has mutual aid
agreements. In addition, because the MFD is funded by aper-square-foot levy on all buildings
constructed in the area, as the airport and the commercial/industrial area are developed, adequate
funding would be available to finance any required increases in MFD facilities and personnel
(Reinard W. Brandley, Consulting Airport Engineer 1997).
Fire protection needs would be slightly greater under 2015 proposed project conditions with
Phase 2 interchange improvements than under Phase 1 because, under Phase 2,additional land would
• i be developed in urbanized uses. Because additional fire protection service would be provided to the
project site, this impact is considered less than significant under both Phases 1 and 2 interchange
conditions.
Stockton Metropolitan Airport Project Chapter 10, Public Services and Utilities
Draft Environmental Impact Report 10-5 March 10, 1998
0
