KLEINFELDER
These retests were performed on June 13, 2003, in accordance with accepted guidelines using
clear potable water. The procedure calls for first placing about 2 inches of fine gravel at the
bottom of the borehole. The hole is then pre-soaked with water at least 24 hours prior to
performing the test. The 3.5-foot deep test was performed by adding about 6 inches of water
above the gravel in the hole. The deeper test was performed by adding up to about 3 feet of
water above the gravel. From a fixed reference point, the drop in water level was measured at
approximate 30-minute intervals for four hours, refilling as necessary to maintain the prescribed
amount of water over the gravel. Under the observation of an Environmental Health Specialist
from the San Joaquin County, Environmental Health Department (SJC/EHD), the last 30-minute
reading of the four-hour period was recorded and used to calculate the percolation rate in
minutes per inch. The estimated percolation rates are summarized below. A copy of our field
percolation test results is attached.
TesfNumlerg ' De' th;feet Percolation Rate miri/inch".
Parcel 2(second retest) 3.5 125
Parcel'2 (second retest) 19.8 8
The results of our percolation retests indicate that a suitable soil percolation stratum exists at a
depth of about 20 feet at the location tested in the second parcel 2 retest. A suitable soil
condition is defined as a stratum capable of percolating water at a rate of 60 minutes per inch
(min/inch) at a depth of 3.5 feet or 30 min/inch for deeper tests. The results of our percolation
tests indicate that a conventional septic tank/leach trench sewage disposal system with seepage
pits should adequately serve this parcel. The seepage pits should extend to the sandy soils
underlying the site that were encountered at a depth of about 20 feet below site grade. It was
assumed that the percolation test results are representative of the subsurface conditions in the
general area.
This completes the scope of work requested. Our work was performed in general accordance
with the.standard of care that exists in San Joaquin County. We note that the Limitations section
of our original report still applies.
