i
Soil Suitability Study DC--92-2 , 1 Parcel (Cluster Dwelling)
i
TEST RESULTS :
Parcel No. Test Hole Percolation Rate
NO. (Minutes Per Inch
f P1 120*
Failed to meet the 3-foot test hole depth percolation rate of 60
Minutes Per Inch standard.
E
! RECOMMENDATIONS :
Four (4) , forty feet long leach lines with thirty-six (36 )
inch diameter pits , twenty-five (25) feet deep, in an 1.8 , 000 square
feet minimum usable disposal area plus a 2 , 000 gallon septic tank
is recommended for the additional two bedroom home to be added on
k the approximate 1 . 5 acre parcel .
This recommendation is made based on the nearly acceptable
percolation rate determination, the performance of the existing
systems installed on the subject property, and the historical
experience of the availability of a drainage layer existing from
sixteen ( 16) to eighteen (18) feet below the ground surface found
in installing other systems in the general area.
The percolation readings shown on the attached "Percolation
Data Sheet" are very close to the acceptable limit of 1/2 inch drop
in water level over a thirty minute period. All of the readings
zvere within the acceptable limit except for the very last 1/2 hour
of the four hour test period. Permits for the sewage system
facilities on the subject property show them to have been installed
in 1952 and 1955 , with no documented repairs since their initial
installation. Also the present property owners claim no repairs
have been made on the existing systems . The existing system, from
all information available, has functioned satisfactorily for a
4. minimum of thirty (30) years . Also good drainage soil layers have
been found at about sixteen ( 16) to eighteen ( 18) feet below the
ground surface in excavating for sewage facilities in the general
area of the subject property.
For the above mentioned three reasons , I am recommending the
combination of four leach lines with pits at their ends in an
18 , 000 square feet disposal area plus a 2 , 000 gallon septic tank,
subject to verification and approval of the San Joaquin County
Public Health Service, Environmental Health Service .
Troy and Joann Baker 4
