Statement of Purpose: <br /> T" This Soil Suitability Study for Ed Nunes Dairy LPC has several purposes: <br /> r� ® Determine the capability of the soils to be used to disperse manure solids and storage <br /> pond liquids containing nutrients onto the dairy site property <br /> • Analysis of soil.samples; properties, water retention and erosion <br /> i <br /> • Analysis of water samples; irrigation water, domestic water and ground water <br /> e Establish background conditions of surface and ground waters at the site, upgradient <br /> and downgradient of site <br /> Site History: _ <br /> The San Joaquin County Planning Department has approved the current project. The Site <br /> Approval number is PA-02-224. This approval allows for an expansion of the existing dairy (700 <br /> milk cows, 114 dry cows, 370 bred heifers, 493 calves over three months, 123 calves under three <br /> months) cow milking facility, dairy cattle feeding facilities, cattle feed and commodity storage and <br /> farming operation. This site has been operated as a dairy cow raising and milking facility for over <br /> forty-five years. The portions of the site that are not a portion of the buildings, corrals and the <br />' ! manure storage system are irrigated farmland. The farm property is leveled for flood type <br /> ,�. irrigation. <br /> The existing site contains the following structures: <br /> Two frees#all barns and two cattle shades to house up to 700 milking cows, milk parlor, one <br /> commodity barn, three hay barns, shop, pump house, horse shade, two residences, one duplex, <br /> and one mobile home. <br /> T-4 <br /> Planned Site Improvements: <br /> V The planned site improvements are to grow from the current cowherd population to the optimal <br /> cow herd population that the property will accommodate.
