Surface&Subsurface Contamination Report Page 5
Sandhu Farms
Project No. 655.1
August 15, 2012
• No current or past use of underground fuel tanks was identified. The use
of aboveground tanks near the barn (8) appears unlikely to have resulted
in an impact to the soil. To help assure the tanks will not pose a future
environmental hazard in case of a leak or rupture, we suggest that some
form of secondary containment be constructed around the tanks.
• The irrigation water well near the southwest corner of the Property serves
as an emergency backup supply. Currently it is stripped and the well is
entirely open. While this does not represent a direct environmental
concern, it is a safety concern.
• Given the age of many of the permanent buildings, it is theoretically
possible that asbestos could be contained in some construction materials.
No materials were observed, however that appear to of a type that would
commonly contain asbestos.
• The barn (8) is used, in part, to store containers of pesticide. There is also
a large container of an herbicide stored just outside the barn that is stored
on concrete, which would inhibit the impact to soil in the event of a spill.
• It appears that some of the pesticides and petroleum products are present
in "Reportable Quantities" and that a Hazardous Materials Management
Plan (HMMP) should be filed with the County Office of Emergency
Services (OES).
Past Use of Property
Past uses of the Property as agricultural land to raise row or grain crops appear
unlikely to have impacted it with a recognized environmental condition, except
the low concentrations of residual pesticide could still be resident in the soil.
Environmental Conditions lmpactingSite from O Site Properties
Based on the results of the EDR State and Federal environmental database
search, a review of State operated online websites, and on the site
reconnaissance, it does not appear likely that any off-site facilities have
impacted the Property with a recognized environmental condition.
2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
