G
Geological`technics Inc. Page 3
C&B Equipment
Monitoring Well Installation Report
- Project No. 336.2
November 13, 1995
9/95 Collect around of groundwater samples
11/95 Submit report
2.0 SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
The following sections describe the procedures, protocol, and methods used during
the subsurface investigation to characterize the vertical and lateral extents of
petroleum hydrocarbons sourced from a suspected former leaking underground
storage tank. Geological Technics Inc. proposed to investigate the lateral extent of
soil and groundwater contamination in the June 15, 1995 Monitoring Well Installation
and Groundwater Monitoring Work Plan.
21 Soil Boring Sampling
On July 25, 1995 a total of three- (3) soil borings were advanced to a total depth of
.:: 21.5 feet below ground surface (MW-1, 2, & 3) in positions surrounding the
suspected point of release (Figure 2 Site Map). Soil cuttings were underlain and
covered with plastic and stockpiled on site.
Soil samples were collected for geological and possible analytical evaluation at five
foot intervals. All soil samples were field screened for subjective evidence of
< contamination as described in the Quality Assurance Program found in Appendix A.
Soil samples were collected in 6.0 inch brass liners using a 2.0 inch modified
California split spoon sampler. All soil samples were sealed with aluminum foil,
capped, labeled and placed in a cooler at 4° Celsius for transport to the laboratory
following Chain of Custody protocol.
= A boring log providing sediment description using the U.S.C.S. and field
observations was maintained by a professional geologist working under the
supervision of a registered geologist.
2.2 Monitoring Well Installation
After reaching the total depth in each boring the boring was converted into a
groundwater monitoring wells as follows:
The well borings were advanced to a total depth of 20 feet below surface grade using
a 8.00 inch outside diameter continuous flight hollow stem auger owned and
operated by V&W Drilling (C57#710678).
f
