will be followed up by phone with property owners to discuss the project and
arrange a field visit. Upon the land owner's permission, LSCE will conduct a field
inspection of wells to determine if the well is suitable for monitoring, document
details concerning well location, construction, and accessibility. Following 1
sampling activities, results will be compiled and analyzed; and a letter containing
individual results will be provided to land owners. Pending identification of
j suitably constructed wells, LSCE may explore permission for use of an existing well
for aquifer testing purposes. LSCE will prepare a map of the wells for inclusion in
off-site monitoring network. Tabulated well construction data and water quality
data. The analyses and results will be incorporated into the Existing Setting.
Task 1 b Aquifer Testing(Optional)
• LSCE .will, determine the nature of the underlying., aquifer(s), i.e., confined,
giunconfined, "leaky confined;--an&their characteristics such-_as'tfansmissivity'
storativity, and the nature of leakage. -,A select network-of pumped well and '
monitoring wells (on-site and possibly off-s.ite)ywill-be identified.. LSCE will install j
electronic pressure transducers; conduct pretest; conduct aquifer test; analyze test I
results within this network. Aquifer test results will' be used in Task 5 to assess
*,,potential project impacts'
Fit • Note: Costs estimated for this task assume that one aquifer test will be conducted i
and a) a pump service will be called upon to install a test pump, b) a diesel
generator will be rented to provide power, c) diesel will be delivered to the site
-- regularly, d) extracted water will be disposed of on the quarry property, and e) the
test duration is five days. The actual test duration will depend on the response
observed in both the pumped well and monitoring well(s) during the test.
F, i
Task 1 c New Wel I Construction (If Necessary)
I
• This Task is included in the scope of work under the assumption that a) currently no
-T suitable on-site extraction well(s) exist, and b) suitable off-site extraction well(s) are i
either not identified, or access to such wells is not granted by well owners. 1
However, well construction cost is not included in the present cost estimate as it
will be determined via a bid solicitation process at a later time. Since the project
proposes groundwater extraction through wells on-site, LSCE would work with the
project applicant constructing wells on the project site to ensure that the well
j placement dovetails with the applicant's planned well locations for project
operations.
` LSCE will install as necessary the facilities (likely one test well and one monitoring
well) to conduct one or more aquifer tests. Facilities installed for purposes of
determining aquifer characteristics and evaluating potential project impacts could
F also be incorporated into the network of monitoring wells (or used as an on-site
water supply well in the case of the test well). LSCE will oversee well design; bid
solicitation; drilling oversight; collection and description .of drill cuttings; well
{ ; development; retrieval of baseline water quality samples; preparation of lithologic
' logs and as-built well drawings. Lithologic logs and as-built drawings will be
prepared and incorporated into the Existing Setting.
San Joa uin Counl Community Development Department LAMM
'
6
