• PHYSICAL SETTING <br /> Topography <br /> The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic <br /> map, is approximately 10 to 12 feet above mean sea level (Plate 3). The Site is <br /> relatively flat. <br /> Geology <br /> The Site is mapped on the Geologic maps of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, <br /> California (Atwater, 1982). It is depicted within a map unit of the Modesto formation <br /> (Pleistocene), described as "compact silt and very fine sand" (Plate 4). <br /> Soil Analysis <br /> Chemical and Physical Properties of the Soil <br /> The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the Web Soil <br /> Survey (USDA, 2018) to be composed of Manteca fine sandy loam and Veritas fine <br /> sandy loam (Plate 5). The table below presents some selected properties of these soil <br /> types: <br /> • Table 1.
