We understand that manure for composting will
r originate from the two new bird houses located on the north side of parcel 023-170-08.
= Construction on two more houses is planned to begin shortly. Each house will have about 120,000
birds;two houses presently operate. Each bird house generates about 15 to 20 yards of manure per
day. The manure will be transported to the composting house for conversion to compost.
Composting is a five day process. Composting is required for chicken manure to reduce the
strength of the manure into a beneficial soil amendment. Composting involves rotation and
movement of the compost by machinery during the five day process. The composting house is
rectangular in shape and contains concrete floors and sidewalls. The concrete was required to
prevent the manure and compost from entering the ground. The composting house is covered,
protecting it from rain fall. After.the composting process is complete, the compost will either be
given away and/or may be applied to the land. Later, SKS Enterprises hopes to bag and ship the
F entire production of compost to market for profit.
The percentage of application to the land is estimate to be less_tha 50 ercent initially and irH-
f
Years no -= fmr,o.st.-The compost Eliot will be applied-to land will be disked into
the gro .- ,, ^-. rcnmental Health Specialist,
indicated Gi r the stream
drainage water bodies.
Ad_ etailot - ` ~ .lication areas
and the. lrhc 6riposting ?7 F
process '1
7 4 C2 S
',,IZThe str a ng was possible
on 'vI ` that
chickei / information
indicat
tr
un the volume
D
losses Uy the pounds
per ye
47
