WASTE DISCHARGE REQ, ENTS ORDER NO. 5-01-145 KNIFE RIVER CORPORATION DBA KRC AGGREGATES -5_ <br /> AGGREGATE MINE AND WASTEWATER SYSTEM <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> 9. The discharge or deposit of waste at this site from sources other-than from the sand and <br /> gravel operations is,probibited. <br /> 10:The addition of chemicals to the aggregate processing operation is prohibited. <br /> i <br /> 11. Surfacing of wastewater.in the septic tank or septic tank leachfield is prohibited. <br /> B. Discharge Specifications: <br /> 1. The average monthly discharge flow to the ponds shall riot exceed 3.0 <br /> � p million gallons per <br /> day. <br /> 2. Objectionable odors originating at this facility shall not be perceivable beyond the limits <br /> € of the wastewater treatment area. <br /> t 3. As a means of discerning compliance with Discharge Specification No. B.2, the dissolved <br /> oxygen content shall not be less than 1.0 mg/l in any pond at any time, as measured at a <br /> point at as far as practical from the pond inlet and within one foot of the water. <br /> 4. Water or process wastewater shall be used for dust control or onsite irrigation in a <br /> manner that will not cause runoff to uncontrolled areas. <br /> 5. The discharge shall remain within the designated disposal area at all times. Wastewater <br /> shall not be discharged to areas not identified in Attachment B. <br /> 5. The wastewater treatment ponds shall not have a pH of less than 6.5 orgreater than 8.5. <br /> ` 7. The Discharger- operate all <br /> g p systems and equipment to maximize treatment of the <br /> wastewater and optimize the quality of the discharge. <br /> 8. The ponds shall be managed to prevent breeding of mosquitoes. In particular, <br /> a. An erosion control program should assure that small coves and irregularities are not <br /> created around the perimeter of the water surface. <br /> b. Weeds shall be minimized through control of water depth, harvesting, or herbicides. <br /> c. Dead algae, vegetation, and debris shall not accumulate on the water surface- <br /> 9. The Discharger's wastewater system shall be designed, constructed, operated, and <br /> maintained to prevent inundation or washout due to floods with a 100-year return <br /> frequency. <br /> 10. All stockpiled products shall be managed to prevent erosion of sediment to surface water <br /> drainage courses. <br /> 11. Newly constructed or rehabilitated levees or berms shall be designed and constructed <br /> under the direct supervision of a California Registered Civil Engineer or Engineering <br /> Geologist. <br /> I _ <br />
