.d T
Blue oak woodland,
• Blue oak savanna,
• Ephemeral drainages;
Ponds,
• Annual grasslarids,and:
• Developed and disturbed'area:
Seven manmade surface water features are located within the Permit Area:that are.
used primarily as stock ponds (see Exhibit I ). The ponds can'.provide forage and.
loafing areas for waterfowl and breeding habitat for amphibians. Species that
may occur at the ponds include a variety of waterfowl, shore .birds, amphibians
and other wildlife species.
Annual grassland.is the primary common community on the project site. Annual
grasslands are not considered sensitive biological resources because they are
locally and regionally common.
Annual grassland occurs as a mosaic with blue oak savanna on the project site.
Annual grassland is a herbaceous community dominated by non-native annual
grasses. Typical grasses include soft chess, wild oat, and ripgut brome. Native
and non-native forbs found scattered throughout the grassland include fiddleneck,
harvest brodiaca, lthuriel's spear, and filatree.
Wildlife species abundance and diversity are relatively low in grassland habitats
found on the project site. However, the proximity of grassland habitat to oak
woodland and oak savanna habitat increases its value to wildlife. Wildlife species
in the grassland way include -white-crowned sparrow, American goldfinch,
mourning dove, Brewer's blackbird, and yellow-billed magpie.
IKRC anticipates that the EIR process for this permit application will include a
survey for special-status plant species within the Permit Area. The EIR process
will also likely require a survey for special-status wildlife species. If special-
status species are identified, KRC will comply with mitigation and conservation
requirements of state and federal regulatory agencies.
F. In-stream Mining: If mining will occur within an active stream channel any or all
` of the following_information may be needed to assess impacts of the-proposed
' operation -No in-stream mining will occur in the Permit Area.
N
G. Air Resources/Climatology. Include a aeneral description of the climate of the
area-Monthly average high temperatures in nearby Lodi range from 55 degrees
Fahrenheit (°F} in January to 91'F in July, while monthly average lows range
from 36°F in December to 57°F in July. Temperature records are I I l'F for the
high and 11°F for the low. January is generally the wettest month with an
average rainfall of 3.56 inches while almost no rainfall occurs in the summer.
Distribution Copy Page 5 of 14 August 2, 2006
