Following sample recovery, each sample tube will be cleaned externally, its
ends covered with aluminum foil and closed with tightly-fitting plastic caps.
The caps will be secured with adhesiveless tape. Each sample tube will then be
labeled for identification, entered into chain-of-custody control and packed on
chemical ice for transport, within 24 hours, to Chromalab's laboratory.
Each sample of treated soil submitted to the laboratory will be analyzed for the
following suite of analytes
Analyte Method of Analysis
` Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 5030/8015
(quantified as Diesel)
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8020A/8015
(quantified as Gasoline)

Benzene EPA Method 8020
,i
Toluene EPA Method 8020
Ethyl benzene EPA Method 8020
Total Xylene Isomers EPA Method 8020
MTBE EPA Method 8260M
Disposition of Treated Soil
When the total volume of soil to be treated has been shown statistically, to the
requisite degree of confidence, to be free of detectable traces of fuel
hydrocarbons or their components, the soil in the treatment area will be graded
to reduce its thickness to about 3 in. or less. Following that the whole of the
_1 treatment area will be thoroughly rototilled to a depth of at least 6 in. to blend
I. the clean, treated material with the substrate as a beneficial soil amendment. At
that point the treatment program will be complete.
j
sic
