Site investigation to delineate the lateral and vertical extent of the subsurface affected by <br /> gasoline and diesel that leaked from underground storage tanks and remediation of <br /> stockpiled soil affected by fuel hydrocarbons that was excavated at the time the <br /> underground storage tanks were closed by removal- <br /> The scope of work includes investigation of the hydrostratigraphy and geochemistry of <br /> the site using soil probe and hydro-punch techniques at approximately 20 locations <br /> ;.: <br /> Following that initial, exploratory phase of the work, up to eight (8) 2-in. diameter, <br /> groundwater-quality monitoring wells will be installed in 8-in. borings, drilled using <br /> '= open-stem augers. Soil and groundwater samples will be recovered for analysis during <br /> both the exploratory and well-installation phases of the work. <br /> Hydrocarbon-affected soil stockpiled on the site will be remediated using aeration and <br /> the land farming method. of bioremediation. That work will involve the use of heavy <br /> front-end loaders to remove sail from the stockpile and to spread it over the treatment <br /> area. The spread soil will be tilled using an agricultural tractor equipped with a rototiller_ <br /> As necessary, mixtures of common agricultural fertilizers containing phosphorous, <br /> E : potassium and nitrogen will be applied to the spread soil. Acid balance liquids or <br /> agricultural lime may also be used to modify the chemistry of the soil. <br /> The work performed will be in accordance with "Work Platt for Site Characterization <br /> and Remediation of Excavated Sntl at Former Fueling Station, 7500 West Eleventh <br /> Street, Tracy, California, which has been submitted to the San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services, Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS) for review and approval. <br /> The site location and the location of the closest hospital with full-service emergency <br /> treatment facilities are shown on Figure 1.
