' Soil Suitability&Nitrate Loading Study
St. Patrick's Church, Escalon, CA Page 4
{ Project No. 607.1
August 31, 2009
fE'
Based on these records, it appears the septic systems in the nearby area have ,
operated consistently and with few repairs needed.
3.3 Existing and Proposed Septic System Usage
r The proposed new septic system is expected to experience minimal use due to
limited hours of use. The proposed chapel will have a seating capacity of about
30 persons. It will have two restrooms, each with two toilets. One of the toilets
in the men's room will be a urinal. The San County Joaquin CSewage q y Standards
(EHD, 2003) offers guidance for assumptions regarding septic flow rates.
According to Table 6.1.15, the assumption is made that a church will produce 5
`± gallons per day for each seat. Using this assumption, the 30-seat chapel is
calculated to produce 150 gallons-per-day (GPD) of raw sewage. -
For residential septic systems, the assumption is made that each resident
produces 70 gallons per day (GPD) of sewage. Permanent residences are
Fi generally assumed to have 5 residents, yielding a sewage output of 350 GPD. In
this case, the 2-bedroom house is occupied by the parish priest, and given the
requirements of the Catholic faith, the house is unlikely to ever house as many j
as five residents. The house estimate is therefore reduced to 200 GPD.
Fi
# i
ki
I
¢ 2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
