File No. 20-3551-01 ]�"� KLEINFELDER <br /> May 26, 1992 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> k <br /> In our discussion with Mr. Bill Helms of the State Drought Center, <br /> we understand that the State uses an annual average water <br /> consumption rate of 1 acre-foot per year for a family of five. <br /> This includes all water used for domestic purposes and landscape <br /> watering but excludes irrigation. This value is equal to <br /> approximately 900 gallons per day per family and approximately <br /> 14, 400 gallons per day for the sixteen proposed residences on an <br /> annual basis. <br /> As you can see by comparing the above figures, domestic use from <br /> sixteen wells constructed at the site would equal approximately 20 <br /> percent of the volume used annually over the thirty-two years of <br /> irrigation at the site. However, the above values for residential <br /> use do not include any irrigation water that may be used on the <br /> individual lots. It is our opinion that if portions of the lots <br /> are farmer:-, the volume of water used for irrigation and domestic <br /> purposes will still not equal the volume of water used annually <br /> during the thirty-two years of heavy irrigation. <br /> WATER TESTS <br /> As requested by Environmental Health Services personnel, on April <br /> 15, 1992 , a representative of our firm obtained samples from wells <br /> located at the two residences on the site. The samples were <br /> delivered to FGL .Environmental laboratory in Stockton for general <br /> mineral content and PCB testing. The test results are included <br /> with this report. <br /> CONSTRUCTION FEASIBILITY <br /> We understand that the . San Joaquin County Planning Department has <br /> requested information regarding the feasibility of constructing <br /> residences on the subject site. Although our scope of services for <br /> the septic system suitability study did not include test borings <br /> for geotechnical purposes, we did drill several test holes for <br /> percolation testing. The materials encountered in the percolation <br /> test holes were consistent with materials typically encountered in <br /> the site area. <br /> Based on our experience with projects in the site area for which <br /> our firm has provided geotechnical services, it. is our opinion that <br /> the sixteen proposed lots are suitable for typical residential <br /> construction. The structures can likely be supported on <br /> conventional spread and/or continuous foundations bearing on the <br /> existing materials or on Engineered Fill. <br /> One possible concern in the site area is the presence of expansive <br /> clay soils at the surface. However, if expansive clay soils are <br /> present beneath a proposed structure location, several methods <br /> exist to reduce the risk associated with constructing on expansive <br /> soils. <br /> Copyright 1992 C einfe[der, Inc. <br />
