I
Ms. Yvonne Miller 18 February 2009
A R and M E Glover Trs Page 2 of 2
Re: 7675 W. Eleventh Street
The EHD notes that the soil samples collected at or approximately at 10 feet bsg from five
of the six borings and the associated grab groundwater samples were moderately to
intense) impacted p acte
d by petroleum hydrocarbons. The distribution of impacted soil is
suggestive of migration of free product toward the north-northwest, in agreement with the
inferred predominant. groundwater flow direction. The locally intense impact to
groundwater implied by the grab groundwater samples is not confirmed by the data from
the monitoring wells in the immediate area, such as MW-4, MW-5 and MW-7. The EHD
interprets the grab verses monitoring well sample data to show that the impacted capillary
fringe soil is not in turn impacting groundwater significantly. The EHD suspects that the
impact to the grab groundwater samples from GP-4 through GP-8 was an artifact of the
soil and groundwater sampling method. The EHD does not require any additional site
characterization as a result of the September 2007 investigation at this time.
The EHD notes that monitoring wells MW-1, MW-5 and MW-8 are currently, being sampled
annually, the others quarterly. At this time the EHD approves sampling MW-1, MW-4,
MW-5, MW-6, MW-7 and MW-8 annually and sampling MW-2 and MW-3 semi-annually.
Analyze all samples for methyl tert-butyl rether (MTBE); in addition to MTBE, analyze
samples from MW-2 and MW-3 for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline
(TPH-g) and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes.
Submit the feasibility study to the EHD by 01 June 2009. Questions and comments may
be addressed to Nuel Henderson at (209) 468-3436.
Sincerely,
aLaaor
Marga C.
