E .
NLS§ 4.2. From the soil chemistry test results, it appears there is si=gnificant. denitrification
potential (an approximate 10 fold nitrate-nitrogen reduction)within the soil environment from the
surface soils at two ft down to the zone of saturation at:11 ft.
NLS§ 4.1, SSS§ 6.8. The water table analysis reveals a comparatively low nitrate concentration at
23 ppm as nitrate. The.calculated nitrate concentration:-in the percolating effluent has been
determined to be 24 ppm nitrate. The Porter-Cologne Water Act summarily states there shall be no
further degradation to-the-waters of the State of California. Given the large number of conservative.
variables within the:nitrate loading calculations; it can be very reasonably concluded that the.Water
Act will not be violated Additionally, placement'of the rainwater retention basin theoretically
downgradient from the.filter_bed disposal area may add_a dilution effect to effluent traveling in the
top mixing layer of the water.table..:
It is imperative that all food and food wastesthat-may be brought on-site;be handled as-solid
wastes and not be disposed-of into the septic system.- This will prevent concentrated organic
loading and prolong the lifespan of the wastewater disposal system. No sinks are to be installed
with a garbage disposal, and oils and'grease-must not be poured down sink drains. All plumbing
fixtures must be of the.lowest flows available. Faucets for face, hands and feet washing must be _
spring-loaded, or infrared activated with timers. A.water softener must-not bei n stalled on the
domestic water supply line since the sodium liberated could deflocculate the clays and collapse the
soil structure.
Due.to Muslim-Cultural practices, bodily wastes must not be eliminated at a Mosque. In addition
to not having a kitchen-in the facility, the biological organic matter within_the effluent and
subsequently the nitrate formation potential, should be very low.
The maximum Average Daily`Flow-(ADF) is calculated to be 1,250 gals/day on Sundays. The
average Application Rate between the 36 inch and 42 inch test depths (Official Tests), and the 36
inch and 40 inch test depths (Unofficial Tests) at the proposed native soil-effluent interface is
presently 0.627.gals/ft'/day, based upon the percolation test results. With a filter bed disposal area
of 28 ft.
x 96.5 feet.= 2,702 ft' the soil effluent interface should, accept the anticipated effluent flow,
volumes readily:
0:627 gals/ft'/day x 21702 ft': 1,694 gals/day that the soil-effluent-interface soils can theoretically
accept and manage This-exceeds the highest ADF on Sundays by: 1,694 -1;250 444 gals of
effluent (A 26%increase). A Long-Term Acceptance Rate (LTAR) of the soils at the soil-effluent
interface declining to an LTAR of 0.2 gals/ft'/day still gives an ADF of 2;702 ft'x 0.2 gals/ft'/day
= 540 gpd, which may be closer to an actual ADF for Sundays.
The.building designer/engineer/architect, the plumber, the landscaper, and the wastewater: disposal
System installer must all coordinate so that proper grades are established and maintained. In
addition, effluent lines should not cross fresh°water or electrical lines. If crossing cannot be
avoided, the wastewater lines should cross under fresh water lines and be`adequately encased per
EHD guidelines..
Chesney Consulting
