The 1940 photo shows the subject site as an empty field. The 1952 photo shows the northern
approximately three quarters of the site as an empty field, and the southern quarter of the site as
having automobiles and building in the southeast corner of the site. The 1963 photo shows the
existing cinder block building on W. Eleventh Street, a building near the southeast corner of the
site, a larger and a smaller building near the center of the site, automobiles on the southern half of
the site north and east of the cinder block building, and the northern half of the site as an empty
field.
The 1975 and the 1983 photos show automobiles stored in rows throughout the entire site as in a
automobile wrecking yard. In addition, the photos show all the existing buildings. The 1983
photo shows darkened soil north of the cinder block building on W. Eleventh Street. Darkened or
stained soil, was not observed on the rest of the site, or in the surrounding area. Photocopies of
aerial photographs are included as Appendix II.
5_5 Results of Sanborn Fire Insurance Map Search
Sanborn Fire Insurance maps were not available for the subject property.
5_6 Record Search
A Chain of Title search was not requested or conducted for this Phase I investigation.
5_;-7 Polk Business Indices Search
Folk's Stockton City and San Joaquin County Directories were reviewed at the San Joaquin
County Public Library's Main Stockton Branch. The subject property was not listed by street
address in the directories.
5.8 Synopsis of Results of Previous Environmental Investigations
No Environmental Site Investigations are known to have been performed on the subject property.
6.0 DISCUSSION
Historical data obtained on the subject property does not indicate the storage of significant
quantities of hazardous material substances. However, the historical use of the property as an
autowrecking facility, and the storage of small amounts of petroleum products and waste oil on-
site in the past, indicates environmental impact to the soil may have occurred. A visual inspection
of the subject property performed by Smith Environmental did not reveal any indication of spills,
or stains. However, it did reveal the presence of scattered rubbish and small automobile parts.
The subject property is not listed on any of the regulatory databases reviewed.
There are no known environmental problems directly associated with the subject site at the
present time. There are however, several agencies listing concerns within a half mile radius of the
property (Appendix III). Of the sites, three are located within a one-eighth mile radius of the
wA9673 fth 1 rpt.doc 8
