SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc (Live Oak) was contracted by Paul Calosso and Fred
Calosso to conduct a Soil Suitability Study for their property located at 34443 North Dry
Creek Road and 15751 East Prouty Road, Galt, California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil
Suitability Study Requirements Checklist.
Proposed Development
A minor subdivision is proposed to split the Site into 15 new parcels (Plate 2). Paul
Calosso indicated that there are no plans to change the land uses in the future.
Site Description
r.-
The Site consists of Assessor's Parcel Numbers (APN) 009-020-03, 009-060-03, 009-
070-01, 009-090-07, 009-080-10, and 009-090-05, totaling approximately 1,552 acres in
size. The Site consists of grazing land and agricultural land planted with alfalfa, sudan
grass, and squash. Two building clusters are located on the Site. A house, carport,
barn, small milk barn, domestic well, and irrigation well are located at the southern
building cluster. A house, shop, barn, small office, and domestic well are located at the
northern building cluster. Four additional irrigation wells are also located on the Site.
The northern property line is the San Joaquin-Sacramento County line (Plates 3 and 4).
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 103 to 220 feet above mean sea level (Plate 5). The
northwestern portion of the Site is relatively flat cropland. The central and eastern
portions of the Site are hilly and topographically higher, while the southern portion is
lower and crossed by a seasonal creek.
The San Joaquin County Community Development Department web site states that the
Site is zoned AG-80, general agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 80 acres. This
zoning designation "is established to preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of
commercial agricultural enterprises."
LOGE 1419 Page 1
