"Soil Suitability Study";Parcel_4=41.014 ACRES,About 0.33 Mmes South of the Intersection of Durham
,r
Ferry,Kasson Roads and Airport Way With Access Off Of Durham Ferry Road
APN:255-340-04
October 1992,lists the soil type on the majority of the subject property as Capay Clay
and a very small area as Capay Clay, Saline.classafi anon so only the Capay Clay for a
higher content for the Capay Clay, Saline
classification soil is discussed in detail to this report as follows:
Capay Clay is a very deep and wet soil on a 0%to 2% slope. The soil is of alluvial
derivation from mixed rock sources with a high water table as a result of irrigation water.
I It is at elevations from 25 feet to 140, in a climate with an rainfall of ten(10) inches and
average temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit with 270 frost free days. The soil has a
high shrink-swell factor and permeability is generally slow and the available water
capacity is high.
The soil color of the soil below the ground surface at various depths are listed as
follows:
DEPTH In Inches COLOR
0 to 20 Grayish Brown/Dark Grayish Brown/Dark Brown
20 to 60 Pale Brown
The percent of clay, soil type, plasticity index, permeability and density at various
depths below the ground surface are listed as follows:
DEPTH SOIL TYPE PLASTICITY PERMEABILITY %CLAY DENSITY
In Inches INDEX Inches/Hour (Grams/cc)
0 to 20 Clay 20-35 1.30-1.50 40-60 0.06-0,2
f 20 to 44 laClay 1 Silty Clay 20 -35 1.35 -1.50 40 - 60 0.06--02
l 44 to 60 Silty Clay Loam 1 15 -25
1.40--1.SQ 35 -40 0.06-0.2
Cay Loam
The rate of water intake for the soil is 0.1 inches per hour. The general use for this
soil is for irrigated crops and a few homes.
+ Some problems that are associated with development of the property are (1) slow
4 permeability, (2) high shrink-swell potential, (3)high water table and (4) low strength.
No water was encountered in excavating the Percolation or Soil Profile test holes
on the subject parcel to a maximum depth of 10'03". Refer to the attached"Field
Percolation Data Sheet","Development Plan" and"Parcel Map"as well as the text of this
report for the specific soil layer characters encountered as well as and test hole location
details.
i'
SEPTIC SYSTEM ANALYSIS: San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
' Environmental Health Division septic permit applications were reviewed. Six(6)permit
applications were reviewed in the general area of the subject property. Five were on
Kasson Road, one was on Airport Way and none were reviewed on Durham Ferry Road,
nor was any found for the subject property of this report.
Lisa Ward, 1034 Central Ave.,Tracy,California 95376—3915, (800)836-1404, (209)830-1908
