Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage •
Existing Septic System
According to Steve Faughn, owner of the Site, one septic system exists on the Site to
serve the residence.
Proposed Septic System
The site plan (Benchmark Engineering, 2017) indicates that a new septic system will be
installed to the north of the existing development to serve the proposed recreation
building and trailers.
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permits were
searched for the Site addresses. No septic permits were identified, though a 1986 well
permit (discussed below) depicts a septic system to the north of the residence.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately four square miles surrounding the property. Air photo
imagery from GoogleEarth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed
to have one septic system. The King Island Resort is located approximately 600 feet
southeast of the Site, across Honker Cut. Approximately 30 mobile homes are located
at the resort. Based on permit records reviewed (below), it appears that many of the
mobile homes have individual septic systems; for the purpose of this analysis, each
mobile home was counted as a system. Using this method, we estimated that
approximately nine septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity
of the Site.
With the exception of the resort, the general area consists of open agricultural land.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, septic systems in the area appear to utilize
leach lines or filter beds. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
Maximum expected septic usage on the Site would be from the existing residence and
recreational vehicle trailers, as well as the proposed recreation building.
LOGE 1708 Page 2 is
