Estimated Flow and Concentration (Typical Use) •
Based on the existing and proposed residential and recreational use of the Site, the
maximum average daily flow for the Site with its proposed development was estimated
to be 556.9 gallons per day (gpd).
A typical residential concentration of 35 mg/L of nitrate as nitrogen (N) is selected for
the old clubhouse and trailers, and a concentration of 85 mg/L is selected for the annual
party usage (Crites and Tchobanoglous, 1998).
Through the use of a weighted average, the average concentration of the different
effluent flows and concentrations was determined to be 35.0 mg/L-N at 556.9 gallons
per day. Please see the following tables for details.
Table 4. Average Daily Flow Calculation (Typical Use)
Use Units Rate Subtotal Reduction Average Daily
Flow
Old 2 140 gal/bedroom 280 gpd none 280.0 gpd
Clubhouse bedroom
New 2 Not occupied --- --- ---
Clubhouse bedroom
Trailers 16
(1 bedroom bedroom 140 gal/bedroom 2,240 gpd 45/365 276.2 gpd
each)
Annual Party guests 5 gal/guest 250 gpd 11365 0.68 gpd
Total 556.9 gpd
Reduction factors convert calculated flow into average daily flow over a year: 45/365 and 1/365 converts for days of
operation per year. These reduction factors need to be taken Into account since not all parts of the facility are
occupied at all times.
LOGE 1708 Page 12 •
