Existina and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system currently exists on the Site. The system serves the residence; it is
located to the northwest of the residence, according to the site plan prepared by
Baumbach & Piazza (Plate 2).
Proposed Septic System
According to the proposed site plan, the future church building will utilize a new septic
system to serve its restroom.
On-Site Septic Permit History
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permits were searched
for the Site address. One septic permit, dated August 2008, was found. The permit
was for the replacement of a septic system at the residence; a 1,600-gallon tank, two
100-foot leach lines, and two 25-foot deep seepage pits were specified. The permit also
includes the destruction of the old septic tank.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from
GoogleEarthTm was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one
septic system. Using this method, we estimated that at least 62 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. A residential subdivision to
the northeast of the Site that is most likely connected to the City of Lodi sewer system
was excluded from the analysis.
The general area consists of agricultural land, vineyard, rural residences, and
residential subdivisions. Two nurseries are located within one-quarter mile of the Site,
and a dairy is located within one-half mile.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the
area appear to utilize leach lines and seepage pits. The septic permits can be found in
Appendix 4 of this report.
LOGE 1124 Page 2
