k4 KLEINFELDER
An employee owner!company
File No. 16631.G01
June 17, 2002
Mr. Terry Alexander
7474 West 11"' Street
Tracy, CA 95304
Subject: RESULTS OF GROUNDWATER NITRATE TESTING
7474 WEST 11 lb STREET
TRACY, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Alexander:
This letter presents the results of our groundwater nitrate testing for an existing septic system
located at 7474 West 11t1' Street in Tracy, California. The purpose of our study was to test the .
groundwater for existing nitrate levels. The study was performed per the requirement of the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJC EHD) that the water be tested in order
to determine whether the existing septic tank/leach field system may be used for the existing
building. The following includes the groundwater depth in the project area, discussions
regarding our investigative procedures and the results of nitrate testing are presented. Finally,
the project limitations are provided.
GROUNDWATER DEPTH
During the time of our investigation, groundwater was encountered at a depth of approximately 9
feet.
FIELD EXPLORATIONS AND TESTING
The subsurface conditions at the site were explored on May 23, 2002, by drilling one boring to a
depth of approximately 15 feet below existing grade. The boring was drilled using a Simco 2400
truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 4-inch O.D. solid-stem auger. The location of the boring
was just south of the building's southwest corner at the north end of the access gate. We
understand that this is immediately east of the existing septic system. PVC pipe was installed
with a bentonite seal placed at approximately 2 feet above groundwater depth.
Two water samples have been taken and tested for nitrate content, one on May 28 and one on
June 7, 2002. The water samples were submitted to Sequoia Analytical using chain-of-custody
procedures for nitrate testing. The results of our tests and a copy of the chain-of-custody forms
are attached.
16631.GOIIST02R080 June 17,2002
©2002 Kleinfelder,Inc.
