SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc (Live Oak) was contracted by Thomas Holmes to
conduct a Soil Suitability Study for his property located at 15495 East Highway 88,
Lockeford, California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil
Suitability Study Requirements Checklist.
Proposed Development
The proposed project is a minor subdivision to divide the property into a numbered
parcel and a designated remainder (Plate 2). No change in Site use is anticipated.
Site Description l
The Site, Assessor's Parcel Numbers (APN) 019-170-09 and -19, is approximately 140
acres in size. The Site consists of vineyard and cherry orchard. A recent aerial
photograph of the Site is included as Plate 3.
The site topography consists of a river flood plain on the west and a higher terrace on
the east. The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey
topographic map, ranges from 75 feet above mean sea level on the western side to 110
feet above mean sea level on the eastern side (Plate 4).
;
The San Joaquin County Community Development Department web site states that the
Site is zoned AG-40, general agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 40 acres. This
zoning designation "is established to preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of
commercial agricultural enterprises."
Past Uses of the Site
Based on information reviewed for the Surface & Subsurface Contamination Report
(Live Oak, 2012), the Site has been agricultural land since 1937 or earlier.
LOGE 1209 Page 1
