2.2 Proposed Development
A minor subdivision is proposed to divide the property into two parcels (Plate 3). No
changes in use of the Site are proposed.
2.3 Topography
A recent U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute topographic map was obtained from the
San Joaquin County District Viewer. In the map, the western half of the Site is depicted
as open agricultural land located at approximately 75 feet above mean sea level. The
eastern half is depicted as vineyard at approximately 110 feet above men sea level.
Surrounding properties are shown to be orchards, vineyards, and open agricultural land.
The Mokelumne River is depicted to the west of the Site. This map is included as Plate
4 in Appendix 1.
3.0 HISTORICAL RESEARCH
3.1 Aerial Photographs
Live Oak reviewed aerial photographs of the Site provided by the San Joaquin County
Surveyor's Office in Stockton, California. The available photographs were dated 1937,
1952, 1963, 1975, and 1983. Two additional photographs, dated October 1998 and
July 2010, were obtained from the San Joaquin County District Viewer.
In the 1937 photo, the Site appears to be open pasture land. A line of trees runs along
the center of the Site, and several structures can be seen in this area (off-site for the
current investigation). Two structures or objects (possibly hay bales) can be seen in the
open fields. The Mokelumne River defines the western property line. Other properties
in the area appear to be orchards, irrigated pasture, and dry pasture.
In the 1952 photo, the Site appears to be irrigated. The objects in the fields and several
of the structures near the center of the property (off-site) are no longer apparent. The
adjacent land to the east is now a vineyard, and the land to the north is now an orchard.
In the 1963 photo, the land to the south is now an orchard. No other significant
changes are apparent.
In the 1975 photo, the eastern half of the Site is a vineyard. No other significant
changes are apparent.
In the 1983 photo, a structure can be seen near the center of the southern property line.
No significant changes are apparent.
LOGE 1208 Page 2
