}
FTherefore, 850-440= 410 lineal feet of leachline is required. The following design descriptions
correlate with the Septic Plot Plan located in the Appendix:
L
The Domestic well which will serve the facility is 210 feet to the north of the septic tanks.
Sewage will leave the building in a tightline and enter the first 2000 gallon septic tank.
Effluent from the first tank will crossover into the second 2000 gallon tank. Since there will
be a significant elevational change from this second tank up to the leachfield, an effluent
pumping system must be used such as the Qrenco® System or an equivalent device.
Pumped effluent enters a distribution box (D-box) to be equally dosed to a three-inch
F1 leachline and a three-inch tightline. This tightline should be purple in color to denote it from
'— other water-carrying pipes. From the first D-box, the effluent travels 50 feet through a 30°
angle in both the leachline and tightline. Effluent now travels 180 feet in a southwest
direction to a D-box. Fifty percent of the effluent enters a tightline and travels north under
i... the driveway area and into the first seepage pit. A D-Box should be placed at the top of this
seepage pit to allow effluent to travel northwest in a tightline to the second seepage pit. The
tightline parallel to the leachline should be connected to a three-inch leachline at the denoted
location. This leachline continues in a southwest direction 110 feet to a D-box where 50%
of the effluent enters a tightline under the driveway area to the third seepage pit. The other
50% of the effluent now travels 140 feet north in a leachline to a tightline which extends
under the driveway to the fourth seepage pit.
i
Total leachline length= 50 ft+ 180 ft+ 110 ft+ 140 ft=480 feet. Grade for the leachline
should be 2.5 inches for every 100 feet. Leachline trenches should be 24 inches in width and
the beginning of the leachline should start at 17 inches below final grade. Drain rock should
extend under the entire length of leachline pipe to a depth of 42 inches below final grade.
t
If required by the Environmental Health Department, the D- boxes may have to be installed with
a manually operated valve to "rest" sections of the leachfield and/or seepage pits. This can be
important because resting is beneficial in clay soils. Clay particles become dispersed under
continuous inundation, but reaggregate upon resting. Studies have shown that most of the original
infiltration capacity will be restored after resting.
The 100%replacement area will consist of traveling north from the tightline at the fourth seepage
pit, under the entrance/exit driveway and into the fifth seepage pit. Effluent then travels 150 feet
to the sixth seepage pit and then under the entrancelexit driveway. After 130 feet, the leachline
makes a 90° angle and travels 120 feet to the seventh seepage pit. The 100% replacement leachline
(not seepage pits) must be installed during the time of initial building construction so if needed in
r" the future, there will be no disruption to the driveways.
... 5
vaCley sig Psearck
