V. GROUND WATER AND DEPTH TESTING
i
According to the map of "Lines of Equal Depth of Water Wells" published
Fall; 1999, by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conversation
District, the depth to groundwater at this location is approximately 90 feet. The
gradient is deepening in an easterly direction (See appendix). Water samples were
taken from the westerly adjacent property well A.P.N. 089-060-53 at 9575 East
State Route 88 and analyzed for nitrates and DBCP. It is the only well on the
property. I could not find the permit for this well in the County Records. There is
nota place on the Chain of Custody to indicate where the sample was taken. The z
nitrates were measured at 35.8 mg/l. The DBCP was measured as a "not-detect".
(See appendix for results.) Water samples were taken by Mike Toy of Dillon &
Murphy the same day the percolation test was performed. The samples were taken
using the criteria of FGL. The samples were transported via automobile to FGL and
release to them (see chain of custody in Appendix). There have been some minor
pump repairs done on some older wells in this area. (See Appendix)
VI. ;' SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
One test hole was excavated to a depth of 3.5 feet in the area of the
homesite. The purpose of the test hole was to determine percolation rate in this
area. For approximate location of the test hole, see the Tentative Parcel Map in the
Appendix. The hole was prepared in accordance with County Standards.
Generally the surface soils consisted of a loam. The hole was only 3.5 feet
deep so the lithology was consistently loam. As shallow percolation tests proved 2-
3
adequate for conventional septic systems, no further soil exploration was
necessary.
One percolation test was performed in a hole with 8 inches in diameter by 42
inches deep backfilled with 2 inches of gravel. The one hole was filled with water
24 hours prior to running the test. There was no standing water in the hole after a ✓ ,
24 hour presoak period. The test hole for Parcel 1 was performed under a 4 hour
test. The last half hour of the tests reading for Parcel 1 were witnessed by a
County Health Official and the test data obtained is enclosed in the Appendix.
Parcel Number Percolation Rate
1 30 min./in.
VII: GROUNDWATER
A Groundwater test was performed on the westerly adjacent property well.
The results can be found in the appendix.
I ,
2
C:102511 SOILS REPORT 1003
I _
