kn KLEINFELDER
File No. 50890.E02
October 3, 2006
Ms. Diane Gikas
California Nuggets, Inc.
23073 S. Frederick Road
Ripon, CA 95366
Subject: ADDENDUM TO SOIL SUITABILITY AND NITRATE
LOADING STUDY
CALIFORNIA NUGGETS, INC.
23073 S. FREDERICK ROAD
RIPON, CALIFORNIA
Reference: Kleinfelder "Soil Suitability And Nitrate Loading Study, UP-00-10,
California Nuggets, Inc, Ripon, California," Project No. 31917.G01,
November 11, 2003
Dear Ms. Gikas:
As requested, this letter was prepared as a supplemental report to our referenced soil
suitability and nitrate loading study. The purpose of our study was to determine the
suitability of the property for septic tank usage. The study was performed in general
accordance to the requirements of Section 9-10100© of San Joaquin County
Ordinance. The following comments were prepared as responses to the sections of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department soil suitability and nitrate
loading study requirement checklist that were found not to have been met in the
referenced report in 2003 (service request no. SR0036443).
Soil Suitability Study Comments
Section 2.1- Study does not mention facility was once an egg processing plant. The
subject project site was, at one time, an egg processing facility. Poultry were not bred
at the project site; however, eggs were delivered to the site, cleaned, packaged, and
shipped.
Section 4.2 Study, Section 4, is very vague as to types and quantities of fertilizers
normally applied to orchards and how this nitrogen will affect nitrates in the
groundwater. As indicated by the propertt s former owner (Dr. Stephen Endsley), the
orchards located on the subject site were not actively farmed or sprayed with fertilizers.
50890.E02/STO6R1062 Page 1 of 3
©2006 Kleinfelder, Inc October 3,2006
KLEINFELDER 2825 East Myrtle Street, Stockton, CA 95205-4794 (209) 948-1345 12091 948-0621 tax
