Section 10-1 Construction Details
Std. Spec_ Sec_ 70
Special S1
Page 4 of S
place, clean- out or re-drill the borehole before well
installation- Dispose of soil cuttings by spreading in a
maximum 2-inch thick layer next to drill holes-
C_ In the event that the borehole was over-drilled, install
well casing to the depth drilled_ Payment for over-drill
depth beyond the design depth will not be made.
WELL INSTALLATION:
A_ Provide Imhoff cone to measure settleable solids_
B_ Request the Engineer to calculate volumes of sand pack,
bentonite and neat cement required, based on borehole and
well casing dimensions.-
C_ Install the casing, screen and other well construction
materials in the presence of the Engineer_ Install the PVC
pipe, slotted PVC well screen., sand packs, bentonite seal
and neat cement seal as indicated on the Plans in the
presence of the Engineer_
D_ Connect and carefully lower the well casing assembly to
{ required depth-
I- Attach a casing centralizer at the bottom of the
screened interval and just above the screened interval to
i assure that the well is centered in the borehole_
s
2_ Suspend the well. casing assembly using the drill rig and
do not rest the casing on the bottom of hole_ Extend the
top of the well casing above ground surface as shown in the
drawings_ - - - - - ---
i E_ In the event the well casing assembly is dropped, lowered
abruptly, or for any other reason suspected of being damaged
during placement, remove the well casing assembly from the
borehole for inspection by the Engineer.
F_ if. the well casing assembly rises after being placed in the
' borehole due to heaving formation material, do not place any
drilling equipment (drill pipe, hammers, etc_) to prevent
` . the casing from rising- Notify the Engineer of the amount
of rise.
