KLE/NFELOER
...........P....Solufmnr.
• 2. Total gallons pumped per day are read from a totalizer connected in-line with
the on-site water supply well. In addition to the total gallons pumped, the
time of measurement and weather conditions are also recorded. Additional
notes regarding routine and unscheduled maintenance, irrigation line
conditions and repairs, and addition of irrigated areas are recorded.
This BMP is still being used.
3. Where feasible, "RainBird"T^" spray-type emitters have been replaced with drip
irrigation systems.
This BMP was done. For example, during the winter of 1997-1998 the
nursery converted 18,000 5-gallon patio tree roses, 50,000 2-gallon
roses, 20,000 5-gallon roses, and 50,000 ground cover roses to drip
irrigation. On plants where it is unfeasible to convert to drip irrigation,
lower flow RainBird emitters were installed. Most of the plants in the
shade structures have been changed to a drip-soil spitter emitter that
• will further reduce water usage.
4. An increased number of emitters have been placed in large tree drip irrigation
systems. Smaller trees need less water; however, to completely irrigate the
larger tree (when both sizes had equal numbers of emitters) the smaller trees
were being overwatered.
This has since been corrected.
5. Currently, onsite runoff is collected and diverted primarily into the onsite
storage basin ("Basin B"). This runoff is monitored during the year, and is
primarily contained within the basin. Additional discharge of groundwater from
the three dewatering wells installed on the site is pumped to Basin B. When
nitrate-nitrogen of the dewatering well effluent exceeds the Maximum
Contaminant Level (MCL) as stated in 22CCR, the basin water undergoes
regular dentrification. However, during storm events when significant
quantities of storm water moves across the site, the gate valve to Basin B is
•
117226.E02/ST012R0696 Page 30 of 43 September 14, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
