KLE/NFELDER
mmm r..oIe xIhl11.-
7.
1. .7. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Norman's Nursery and Kleinfelder personnel conducted the monitoring activities at the
project site during the fourth quarter of 2011. The work was conducted to meet
requirements and intent of the Central Valley Region of the State of California Regional
Water Quality Control Board's Monitoring and Reporting Program No. 97-811 and
Kleinfelder's Revised Monitoring Plan dated October 31, 1997. Based on the
information obtained, the following conclusions and recommendations are made.
7.1 CONCLUSIONS
1. Norman's Nursery is located in a rural area of San Joaquin County, east of the City
of Linden, California. The site is bordered on the north by Potter Creek, on the
west by Escalon Bellota Road, and on the east and south by hills historically used
for cattle grazing. The nursery property totals approximately 450 acres of land of
which approximately 400 acres are used for production of trees and shrubs. The
• nursery has recently expanded its production. The exact acreage of individual
production is not known at this time. Previously, the nursery stock was in 1-gallon
cans and large boxed trees. Approximately 95 percent of the production acreage is
drip irrigated. Irrigation water used on site for nursery production purposes has
been injected with a liquid fertilizer mix to green the plant stock. The potting mix is
supplemented with Helena Chemical's MeisterTM.
2. Approximately 263 acres of the fallow land to the south (and upslope) of Norman's
Nursery was developed into a vineyard by others in mid to late 1999, ("Duarte
Property").
3. The production area of the nursery exists at an elevation ranging from
approximately 118 to 148 feet above msl. According to the U.S.G.S. topographic
map for the area, an intermittent stream and numerous drainages appear to flow
across the Norman's Nursery site. According to the topographic survey, three main
drainages enter the nursery and flow towards the drainage basin south of the
office complex.
•
117226.E02/ST012R0696 Page 35 of 43 September 14, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
