Mound System Design Parameters <br /> GURUDAWARA GUR NANAK PARKASH TEMPLE <br /> SITE SELECTION: The mound system must be placed north of the existing septic tanks. <br /> Allowance must be made for upslope, sideslope and downslope setbacks. The mound should be <br /> constructed away from the existing leachfield, if practical or possible. <br /> SITE PREPARATION: The site should be secured to prevent vehicular traffic from compacting <br /> the soil. The mound perimeter and bed should be staked out in the proper orientation prior to <br /> construction. Excessive vegetation should be removed prior to plowing. The area within the <br /> mound perimeter should be plowed to a depth of 7 to 8 inches deep, in an east to west pattern. <br /> SUITABLE FILL MATERIAL: A medium textured sandy loam should be selected for fill <br /> material. The design infiltration rate should be based on approximately 1.2 ga/ft2/day. This <br /> material is not found on-site and must be imported and possibly inspected by the Environmental <br /> Health Department. <br /> ESTIMATED DESIGN FLOW: Upper medium-to-maximum wastewater flow is estimated to be <br /> 250 people assigned 10 gallons per person for a total of 2,500 gallon per Sunday flow rate. This <br /> flow rate is based upon the County Sewage Ordinances. <br /> ABSORPTION BED AREA= 2,500 allons/Sunda =2,083 ft2 <br /> 1.2 gallons/ft2/day (Fill infiltration rate) <br /> ABSORPTION BED DIMENSIONS: The bed should parallel site contours; therefore, the <br /> mound laterals should run east and west. Due to the slow permeability of the native soils, the <br /> bed length should be approximately twice the bed width: <br /> Bed Length= 100 ft <br /> Bed Width=2,083 ft' = 20 ft wide (Must be doubled to incorporate 100 %replacement area). <br /> 100 ft long <br /> MOUND DIMENSIONS (See Schematic): <br /> MOUND PERIMETER: <br /> =.
