AGGREGATE ABSORPTION AREA WIDTH
3 ft(s.extension)+ 16 ft(width of lateral cell)+3 ft(sep.dist.)+ 16 ft (width of lateral cell)+3 ft(n.extension)=41 ft
AGGREGATE ABSORPTION AREA LENGTH
3 ft(w.extension)+88 ft(length of lateral cell)+3 ft(sep.dist.)+88 ft (length of lateral cell) +3 ft east extension)=185 ft
BASAL AREA WIDTH
14 ft(4:1 slopes)+41 ft(aggregate)+ 14 70 ft
MOUND DEPTHS \_
Aggregate Absorption Area thickness=9 in.
(6 in.of aggregate below the laterals, 1 in.for pipe height and 2 in.for cover over pipe=9 inches)
Thickness of Topsoil(Fill and Cap)at the north and south edges of Aggregate Absorption Area = 12 in.
Thickness of Topsoil(Fill and Cap)at the center of the Aggregate Absorption Area= 18 in.
OVERALL LENGTH AND WIDTH
185 ft(aggregate length)+2(15 ft)=215 ft
SOIL COVER
The soil cover shall consist of a silty soil(USCS=ml,sm)material, such as"Manteca loam." if
landscaping grass on the mound is desired, drought tolerant grass may be planted. Instant sod grass is not
recommended because of the clay soil the grass is grown in, may reduce gaseous exchange. As referenced,
the slopes must not exceed 4:1,which will place the height of the mound at approximately three feet higher
than surrounding grade. The grass should only be irrigated during the spring and summer months by an
"impact"type sprinkler that is timed to come on 3-5 times per day for short durations, taking into account
prevailing winds. It is imperative that irrigation water does not percolate past the root zone of the grass to
prevent hydraulic loading of the mound. This may require careful management and investigation by a
landscape contractor.
D. MOUND SYSTEM OPERATIONAL COMPONENTS
CONFIGURATION OF PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION NETWORK
Each mound system cell is to be manufactured by Quanics, Inc. (Part No.PDS-MND-600),which is rated to
manage 600 gpd:The distribution of piping will discharge the effluent uniformly over the aggregate bed,
with three-foot spaced orifices and three-foot spaced laterals so that the effluent application area is -6
ft/orifice. Force main(transport line)piping will be to center-feed manifold. Laterals connect to the
manifold by"cross construction"and not"tee-to-tee" There will be a total of 12 laterals-six on each side
of the manifold, three ft apart. Orifices will be pre-drilled and are to be installed facing up(12 o'clock),
with orifice shields installed over each orifice. Clean-outs at the distal ends of the six laterals will extend
upward with control valves at the"tum-up"and with access boxes,as shown on the Plans.
TOTAL DYNAMIC HEAD(TDH)
The TDH SW_%be determined at this time since other design factors are unknown, particularly the distance
from the dosing chamber to the mound system. Consequently, an estimate of the TDH is provided assuming
a total distance of 50 feet from the dosing chamber to the end of the distribution network for the mound
system. The Tbbi the pump must work against:
13
