i TEIXEIRA-SOUZA PROPERTY Page 4
WKA No. 5475.03
June 2, 2003
Neighborhood distribution overhead electrical powerlines (12kV) are located along the eastern
portion of the northern boundary. Sixty kV powerlines with a 12 kV underbuild are located
along the Lower Sacramento Road easement. We observed no pad- or pole-mounted
transformers or overhead high-voltage (115 to 430 kV) electrical transmission lines on, adjacent
to or near the subject property.
L
The subject property contains no obvious current or historical evidence of USTs, UST fueling
- islands, fill ports, vent pipes, oil/water separators, dry cleaning facilities, steam cleaners, steam
cleaning washpads, drainage inlets, hydraulic lifts, sumps, oil/water separators, waste drurns, raw
materials storage areas or impounds, disposal pits, or agricultural burn or scrap piles.
We observed Pacific Gas and Electric(PG&E) signage indicating a buried gas pipeline along the
L' eastern boundary of the subject property. We contacted Leland Silva, Gas Control Technician
with PG&E. Mr. Silva informed us that there is an 8-inch diameter pipe running along the
eastern boundary of the property. Mr. Silva also informed us that the pipe operates at 260-280
lbs. PSI.
L
Overhead electrical powerlines are located within an easement on the southeastern portion of the
subject property. The overhead conductors are mounted on steel transmission towers and are
L' minimally powered at 115 kV. We observed no electrical transformers, substations or other
equipment within the electrical easement(s)on the subject property.
Concerning electro-magnetic fields(EMFs)on the subject property,we have previously contacted a
1
L Lou Norton, owner representative for Pacific Gas and Electric Company(PG&E). Mr.Norton
indicated that no conclusive evidence has been generated to date showing adverse health effects due
j to exposure to EMFs from overhead electric lines. He reported, however, that this subject is a topic
of intense research currently being performed by, among others, the Electric Power Research
L
Institute. The most recent press coverage that we are aware of on this subject was reported July 3,
L' 1997 in the Sacramento Bee. The Bee cited an eight-year, five-million dollar study coordinated by
the National Cancer Institute(NCI)which was the largest attempt in the United States to investigate
whether exposure to EMFs from powerlines and other everyday sources can cause or promote
childhood leukemia.
t
`, WALLACE-KOHL
6 ASSOCIATES INC.
