MHCSD Arterial Intersection Design Requirements. <br /> Intersections on existing County arterials shall be spaced at least 1/8 mile apart. <br /> L New driveways and minor access points shall be prohibited on existing County arterials. <br /> Existing driveways and access points may remain,but shall be encouraged to relocate. It addresses internal street circulation and <br /> r, design for all community roads including soundwalls and landscaping for County arterials that pass <br /> through or are immediately adjacent to the community. <br /> Pavement widths are to be minimized,consistent with safety considerations. Design standards for local <br /> streets shall be based upon the needs of the neighborhood and shall ensure pedestrian safety. Street widths <br /> shall be based on the number of expected ADT and safe accommodation of expected traffic. <br /> Neighborhood design is to emphasize short,quiet streets that discourage through traffic. Street comer <br /> r.- radii shall be as small as possible to minimise pedestrian crossing distances. <br /> Access standards shall define appropriate level of access to and from each type of street in the functional <br /> classification system. Landscaped medians shall be constructed along high volume arterials, and driveway <br /> access and on-street parking shall be prohibited. Vehicle access to residential lots fronting or appearing <br /> to front on Central Parkway shall be from local streets,alleys,or common driveways and courts. <br /> Arterials and Collector street intersections may be signalized or unsignalized as wan-anted.Turning <br /> movements may be restricted where local streets or collectors intersect with major Arterials.
