Canal, the latter which borders the southwestem-most portion of the College Park site. The combination of fertile
farmland, readily available water provided by the CVP, and ease of transportation set the stage for economic
patterns and growth that continue to this day.
CULTURAL RESOURCE INVESTIGATION RESULTS
EDAW conducted a cultural-resource investigation that included CCIC and NWIC records searches, review of
past cultural surveys covering the College Park site, pedestrian archaeological surveys of those portions of the
` survey area not previously surveyed(College Park site north of Grant Line Road and proposed off-site
infrastructure locations),and a review of County tax assessor and other government records. Based on this
investigation, 10 historic-era resources and 23 potential historic-era resources have been documented in the
project site and proposed off-site infrastructure sites. The cultural-resources studies previously conducted that
included lands in the College Park site and proposed off-site infrastructure locations are listed in Table 4.6-1. The
geographic coverages of these studies and of the surveys conducted by EDAW for the College Park project are
identified in Figure 4.6-1. The 10 historic-era resources are listed in Table 4.6-2 and are described below. The 23
potential historic-era resources are subsequently discussed.
Table 4.6-1
Cultural Resource Studies Conducted in the Vicinity of College Park Site
NWIC Author/Company Report Title Study
Report# Date
5,657 Slater and Holman An Archaeological Reconnaissance of Six Windfarm Parcels near Altamont 1982
Pass,Alameda County,California.
` An Archaeological Reconnaissance of the Proposed Fayette Manufacturing
5,862 Holman and Associates Company Wind Farm on the Morgan, Shuff,Haera and Costello Properties, 1982
Altamont Pass,Alameda County,California.
10,724 Peak and Associates Report of the Cultural Resources Assessment of the Proposed San Joaquin 1986
Valley Pipeline.
11,674 Werner Cultural Resource Survey for the Proposed Delta—Mendota Canal,California 1988
` Aqueduct Intertie,Alameda County,California.
12,800 Bramlette et al.
