Regulations adopted by CDE require minimum distances between new schools and the edge of <br /> transmission line rights-0f-way. The setback guidelines are: <br /> • 100 feet from 50-to 133-kVA lines, — <br /> • 150 feet from 220-to 230-kVA lines,and <br /> • 350 feet from 500-to 550-kVA lines. <br /> These requirements were not based on specific health effects,but on the prudent rationale that the EMF _ <br /> drops to background levels at the specified distances(CPUC 2003). The state does not have setback <br /> requirements from electrical transmission lines for non-school uses(residential, office,commercial, <br /> parks).The San Joaquin County MHMP requires a minimum setback from the edge of the Rio Oso—Tesla <br /> powerline easement for various land uses.
